Measuring Child Multidimensional Deprivation: A Sustainability Perspective

چکیده

Child multidimensional deprivation and poverty is a key challenge to achieving sustainable development. The aim of this paper present apply new composite index for evaluating the progress towards eradicating child poverty: Multidimensional Deprivation Index (CMDI). This stems from foundational literature on that rooted in work started by UNICEF based seven core dimensions deprivation, while considering two additional environmental sustainability. CMDI applies novel method aggregation allows flexibility substitution between dimensions, therefore overcoming some limitations conventional indices. Results 24 countries show most experienced decrease years 2010 2016, but poorest saw an increase deprivation. Additionally, several countries, was small. also investment social spending associated with lower level Investment sector crucial goal preventing negative effects economic other types crisis.

A Counting Approach for Measuring Multidimensional Deprivation

This paper is concerned with the problem of ranking and quantifying the extent of deprivation exhibited by multidimensional distributions, where the multiple attributes in which an individual can be deprived are represented by dichotomized variables. To this end we first aggregate deprivation for each individual into a “deprivation count” indicating the number of dimensions for which the indivi...

Measuring Poverty in a Multidimensional Perspective: A Review of Literature

Recent pioneer papers of Sen (1981, 1985, 1992) have emphasized that poverty is a multidimensional issue. Hence, it should be seen in relation to the lack of important "basic needs" or "basic capabilities." This recommendation has motivated many researchers to focus on the way multidimensional aspect of poverty should be measured and aggregated. This survey synthesizes the contribution of the m...

The dual approach for measuring. Multidimensional deprivation and poverty

This paper is concerned with the problem of ranking and quantifying the extent of deprivation exhibited by multidimensional distributions, where the multiple attributes in which an individual can be deprived are represented by dichotomized variables. To this end we first aggregate deprivation for each individual into a distribution of deprivation count, representing the number of dimensions for...

Chronic Multidimensional Poverty or Multidimensional Chronic Deprivation

In the wake of the renewed interest in multidimensional poverty measurement, a natural question arising is how and whether indices of multidimensional poverty can be adapted to produce measures that quantify both the joint incidence of multiple deprivations and their degree of persistence, i.e. their chronicity. In this paper we seek to build one bridge between these two literatures (on multidi...

Food Deprivation: A Neuroscientific Perspective

The Russian physiologist Pavlov considered eating as the most powerful relationship an organism has to its surrounding world (Pavlov 1953). This "food connection" is heavily regulated by internal state variables such as hunger. Prolonged periods of starving are one of the most tragic experiences of humanity and even mild conditions of food deprivation clearly affect consummatory behavior as ref...
